He’s In Constant Pain!!

Has someone you loved ever lived with constant, un-ignorable pain? Real pain? The kind that shoots throughout your body at the slightest touch? That would be my poor husband. It’s breaking my heart, and I don’t know what to do for him!
He was injured over 3.5 years ago. He was working as a Sous Chef in a kitchen that was literally a refrigerator. He would come home at night and lie on the couch while his body thawed out. I would kiss him on the forehead during this process and it would literally burn my lips. While at work one day–he went into the freezer for a cheesecake. Those can be pretty heavy, and it was above his head. As he pulled it down, he noticed a “Pop” but didn’t really think anything about it. At home, several hours later, as he un-thawed he started getting the most horrible pain he’d experienced up to that point. He finally went to the ER at 6 am, and they misdiagnosed him with a torn rotator cuff and sent him home. Turns out–he’d herniated a disk in his neck, and his nerve was nearly severed.
3 years have passed and he’s had a fusion surgery, physical therapy, and lives with muscle relaxers, nerve tranquilizers and vicodin on a daily basis. He has partial paralysis in his right arm and lives in constant pain. We never thought he’d be back in the kitchen again–so the fact that he is–and loving it, means more to me than anything!! I just need to find a way to ease his pain. I was thinking a hot tub, but he’s never really given too much of a try to know if it would help anything. I don’t want to spend that kind of money, if it isn’t going to really help!
Any ideas?
