Pool Party!!

Yesterday we had a final pool party at my in laws house. I’m not sure we’ve ever gotten to swim on the 7th of October before-but we are unseasonably warm! The water was 88 degrees–and the air wasn’t much cooler–but it was definitely a perfect day for a dip in the pool.

My husbands Aunt and Uncle were there, Uncle Rich and his granddaughter, a cousin and her husband and two little girls–and us! Lots of people–but all good people, good food, good fun.

It was just a really nice day to relax with the sounds of giggling, squealing children outside the window.

New Pain Management Doctor!!

My husband made an appointment with a new pain management specialist. I’m so excited for him! I know that sounds lame–but honestly, he lives in pain everyday. Up until recently I think he figured he was just doomed to hurt–but after he couldn’t take it anymore he finally called a new doctor.

There may be nothing this doctor can do either–but I’m hoping he can try something new. Whether it’s a treatment or a new pain killer. He’s on Vicodin and has been on it for years. The problem is…he won’t take it! There are a couple of reasons behind this–one, he doesn’t want to become addicted to them. I applaud this portion of his decision, really. But there are days and nights that he really should take something and he doesn’t. The other reason is–he’s afraid of running out and not having them when he really needs them. This one I do understand! Once you’ve had the pain and not had something to take you tend to “preserve” all that you do have. I however, don’t agree with this one. If he uses it as he needs it, we would have an honest idea of how much he needs per month. Since he won’t do it–we have quite a few left over at the end of the month. He calls the doctor when he has 10 left–and that may be a month and a half to nearly 2 months later. So the doctor doesn’t raise his dosage–because he doesn’t need too! Kind of a bad cycle to be in!

Whatever his pain relief cycle is–I’m just thrilled he’ll be at a new doctor tomorrow!

Visitors!!

Lauren, Michael and Katherine came over yesterday. It was really fun to get to spend time with them. We moved about 45 minutes away from our old neighborhood-so it was really sweet that they would drive all this way, just to hang out with us.

The kids played in the backyard with their old friends and their new ones. The game of choice…baseball of course! We headed north to a pumpkin farm just about 5 minutes from my house (if that). It wasn’t huge–but it was a lot of fun.

Instead of making dinner for the gang-we headed to my husbands restaurant in Elk Grove. BBQ deliciousness! It was yummy–and the kids were pretty well behaved. All in all it was a really fun day! I hope we can do it again really soon!

A Day Off!!

Tomorrow is Columbus Day and we get the day off of school. It’s also my husband’s day off (how often does that happen??) We are going to do something as a family, outside of the home. I’m thinking corn maze!! But really, as long as we are out having fun as a family–I’m not really picky.

Tomorrow night is a “No Cook” night at school. It means–they want us to head to Chuck E Cheese’s and buy dinner. If we let them know that we are with ’such and such’ school–then our school gets money back. I think it sounds like a great idea–although, I think I would rather eat somewhere a little less expensive–and just make a donation to the school! Heck–even if I gave the school the difference between what I spend at the cheaper place–and what I would have spent at Chuck E Cheese–it would be 3 times more than they are getting back from Chuck E Cheese!

Needing Ideas!!

I have a couple of problems taking place in this house. Not bad ones–but ones that my brain constantly swirls around trying to find answers too. The first I addressed yesterday is Jake and some possible remedies for some of his problems. Sadly–it took months of swirling before I finally hit on a great idea! Sadly–the great idea was something so simple that I should have thought of it weeks ago!

The current problem for most in my thoughts today is Barrett! He is two and just doesn’t seem to ‘fit’ anywhere. He constantly wants attention and will do anything to get it. Whether it includes good things–or utter destruction. If it gets mom to chase him–or one of his siblings…all is well! So I’m trying to come up with solutions to this problem–the first idea was giving him his gift early–the ATV, so that when he was bored he could just head to the basement to drive it. That hasn’t worked–and today, so far, he’s dumped a half a gallon of milk on the floor, put toothpaste in his hair-and he is currently running for his life as his sister chases him to get the roof back to the Lincoln Log cabin she’s building! If you look at me, you may not see the little ideas swirling about my head–but they are there 24/7–I just hope something sticks soon!!

More Surgery–Maybe!!

We just found out that my husband may be going in for another surgery. He’s been having a ton of problems lately with his neck and shoulder–but is really feeling like something is wrong. What a terrible feeling to have–and never fun to hear as a wife. If he does go into the surgery, he will be off of work for 2 weeks. That isn’t a problem at all–I just want to make sure it’s not scheduled around too many days off from school. My kids adore their dad and will all dog pile him if he’s around. Imagine just coming out of neck surgery to that!!

The Daily Haul!!

What a great day! I made it out to the old house to load up my van for my daily haul. There is soooooo much stuff left at the other house, most of it not ours–but I need to get our stuff out so that my in laws can get in and get their stuff out. Then we’ll work on the carpet and paint and doors. All of this has to be done before we can rent the house–and we are responsible for all of the utilities and taxes until it is rented. So I’m feeling kind of a crunch to get it taken care of.

There is one LDS bookstore in the state–and I was excited to get over there today and make some purchases. I’ve been needing things for so long-I took Blake up by the Temple because she LOVES to see Moroni up on top.

She and Barrett fought the entire way home-but it was still a pretty good day!

The New Toy!!

All I’ve heard over the past 24 hours is the loud whirring sound of Barrett’s new toy! I don’t mind it except when it is followed by the loud clang of the kids running into something! The new truck as Barrett calls it is big enough for all of the kids to ride, so it makes it nice that none of them are left out. Barrett is actually really good at sharing-so that hasn’t been a problem yet!

I do have errands I need to run. My mom is making my Blakey a wedding dress for Christmas and I don’t own a measuring tape–and that would be vital in order to get it to fit her! Plus, I wouldn’t mind finding some pretty fabric to make some window coverings in the next couple of days!

Phew–I’m Back!!

Let me take just a moment to tell you about the scariest thing that has ever happened to me! Sadly–it just happened! I decided it would be really nice “update” my WP on my blog–I had an old one running on this site–and a new one running on a new site–talk about confusing! So I thought, since I couldn’t take the new blog back to the old WP–I would bring the old blog–forward!

Well, for the past 3 hours–I thought my blog was gone forever! It disappeared! LITERALLY!! Now to some of you “Techies” out there–this may not have bothered you…I was lost! I had no idea how to get it up and running again and persevered while I tried everything I could think of!

I figured I could get a blog back up and going–but I would have to re-write everything I had done for the past 90+ days. Everything before that would just have to be lost! But when I finally got the last piece of the puzzle in place–my blog came up–empty! I was sad thinking of all of the work that was ahead of me–but happy to have it back. Then up comes this magic button to upgrade my site–I clicked on it–not knowing what it would do–and up came my blog! Everything that I have EVER typed on it is here! Yes, the theme leaves much to be desired…but it’s back–and THAT IS ALL I CARE ABOUT!!

I’m literally crying tears of joy at this moment!!

EDIT: Ok–I got the theme that I had back—and I will NEVER TOUCH ANYTHING on this blog again!!! Happy Dance Time!!
